Summer @ Southbank

Summer @ Southbank

Melbourne was voted the world’s most liveable city in 2016 for the sixth consecutive year; Southbank, situated along the magical Yarra River is one of the reasons that make Melbourne (and Melbourne summers in particular) so very special and such a memorable place to visit (or live, if you’re lucky!).

If you’re in town on holidays or simply looking for some unique ways to spend time with your loved ones this summer, read on for some wonderful things to do along Southbank:

At Southgate’s ground level, BearBrass has transformed its waterside venue into a lush garden oasis. This is the perfect environment to relax and unwind this summer with Pimm’s jars, jugs and POPSICLES being served every day until January 8. Take me there.

AUSTRALIAN OPEN TENNIS (16-29 January, 2017)

The energy is already building for the upcoming Australian Open Grand Slam – one of Melbourne’s many iconic summer events, drawing crowds of approximately 700,000 people every year!

BearBrass is offering a wonderful and unique mode of transport to the tennis this summer; from $30pp for breakfast or $48pp for lunch or dinner, you will then be chauffeured to AND from Melbourne Park with Melbourne WaterTaxis. These packages are available online, and are perfect for couples, families, groups or corporate entertaining (bookings advised).

(Eat, Drink, WaterTaxi Packages are available for a range of other events at Melbourne Park. Check here for event schedule).

Spend an afternoon at Ludlow’s pop-up garden sipping Bonamy’s Apple Cider, which is made in Tasmania from 100% whole pressed Tasmanian apples. The cider is beautifully mild and balanced, and makes for the perfect summer sipper, enhanced only by Ludlow’s incredible riverside location. Graze from the bar menu while you drink, or settle in for lunch or dinner – the Ludlow kitchen is open from 11am til late every day!

BearBrass is splashing out with an English Summer New Year’s Eve Party where London meets Melbourne (hopefully minus the weather!). Think Pimm’s, gin cocktails, pre-dinner cruising along the Yarra ‘Thames’, and a three course dinner…. Sounds jolly good, right? Check out the BearBrass website to book tickets.

Alternatively you can celebrate the New Year in style at the Ludlow White Party. With dinner-only options or special invites to our ‘White Carpet’ cocktail party plus front row seats for the fireworks spectacular, this is an incredible venue to be at to welcome in 2017. Visit the Ludlow website to secure your tickets.

For its third year in a row and boasting one of Southbank’s best vantage points for the NYE fireworks, Hophaus is hosting twilight and midnight dining specials to see in 2017. This venue really bustles during this period so again, it’s best to get online and book your tickets in advance.

Happy Summering, Melbourne!
