The Role
As Duty Manager, you’ll be a key leader on the floor, driving high-energy shifts and bringing our customer-first Irish hospitality to life. We’re looking for a vibrant personality and natural leader who understands that real hospitality is about how you make people feel.
It’s not just about running a smooth shift, but about building genuine connections and creating memorable moments with our guests.
You’ll be responsible for:
- Delivering exceptional hospitality and customer service
- Leading, motivating and supporting the team throughout service
- Taking ownership of the venue during your shifts
- Managing busy periods with confidence and keeping the team focused
- Maintaining venue presentation, cleanliness, and service standards
- Managing staff performance and providing on-the-floor coaching
- Handling customer enquiries and resolving issues professionally
- Ensuring responsible service of alcohol and compliance requirements are met
- Supporting opening and closing procedures
- Working closely with senior management to achieve venue targets

- Can remain calm, organised, and positive under pressure
- Has a strong understanding of responsible service and venue compliance
- Leads by example and isn’t afraid to jump on the floor when things get busy
- Is adaptable and comfortable working across different venue styles and concepts

We’re looking for talented, motivated and experienced Duty Manager to join our team at Temperance Hotel on Chapel Street!
Nestled on iconic Chapel Street in South Yarra, Temperance is a modern pub with a strong local following. The venue hosts everything from busy trivia nights and sporting events, to DJ nights and private functions.
About the Role
As Duty Manager, you’ll be right in the thick of service—leading the team, keeping the energy up, and ensuring everything runs smoothly across the bar, dining, and event spaces. Whether it’s a buzzing Friday night at the bar, a packed Tuesday Night Trivia, or a big function, you’ll be the steady hand that keeps it all on track.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Leading from the front, keeping service sharp and the atmosphere on point.
- Working across bar, floor, and functions, making sure every guest has a great experience.
- Supporting the team, training staff, and keeping things running smoothly.
- Managing stock, budgets, and rosters, keeping an eye on costs and efficiency.
- Ensuring compliance with liquor licensing, OH&S, and health and safety regulations.
- Handling customer inquiries, feedback, and any issues with professionalism and a personal touch.
What We’re Looking For

You’ll need:
- Previous experience as a Duty Manager in a busy pub, bar or restaurant.
- A hands-on approach—comfortable behind the bar, on the floor, or running a function.

- A genuine passion for great service and making people feel welcome.
- An eye for the numbers—experience managing rosters, budgets, and stock.
- A solid understanding of liquor licensing, food safety, and OH&S regulations.
- The ability to stay cool under pressure and keep service running smoothly.

P.J.O’Brien’s Southbank – Melbourne’s iconic Irish pub – are currently looking for FOH team members.
The Venue
Located in the heart of Southbank, P’s is one of Melbourne’s most iconic Irish pubs and has been at the heart of the Melbourne-Irish Community for over 29 years. We’re renowned for our warm hospitality, great food, live entertainment and welcoming atmosphere. We’re looking for enthusiastic and energetic casual front of house team members to join our team and help deliver exceptional customer experiences.
About the Role
As a Front of House Team Member, you’ll be the face of our venue, providing friendly and efficient service while ensuring every guest enjoys the authentic Irish hospitality we’re known for. You’ll work in a fast-paced environment across our bar, restaurant and function spaces.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver outstanding customer service with a positive and engaging attitude.
- Contribute to the the fun and warn environment that our customers love us for.
- Take food and beverage orders accurately using the POS system.
- Serve food and drinks efficiently while maintaining high service standards.
- Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.
- Maintain cleanliness and presentation of dining, bar, and service areas.
- Assist with venue setup and pack-down for daily service and special events.
- Handle customer enquiries professionally and resolve issues where appropriate.
- Work collaboratively with the kitchen, bar, and management teams.
- Follow food safety, responsible service of alcohol (RSA), and workplace health and safety procedures.
What We’re Looking For
- Previous experience in hospitality, bar, restaurant, or pub service is great but not essential – if you’ve got the craic, we can teach you the skills.
- A genuine passion for customer service and creating memorable guest experiences.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a busy environment.
- Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
- A positive attitude, reliability, and strong work ethic.
- Current Victorian RSA certificate (essential).
- Australian working rights.
